Problem:

Wayne contacted us regarding his upper gutter system, which had fallen into a state of heavy neglect. The gutters were completely overfull with a dense accumulation of silt, thick moss, and established grass growth. Because the system had not been serviced for a significant length of time, the accumulated weight and blockages had completely choked the drainage channels, leaving rainwater nowhere to go and threatening the exterior brickwork.

Solution:

We carried out a thorough, hands-on restoration of the upper roofline. We began by manually extracting the dense clumps of grass and heavy layers of moss from the gutter runs. Once the main channels were clear, we focused on the front downspouts, which were completely blocked solid. We removed the trapped silt and debris from the downpipes and performed a comprehensive water flush to ensure the entire drainage network was clear from the roofline down to the ground.

Challenges:

The primary challenge of this project was the severity of the blockages caused by the long interval since the previous clean. The front downspouts were entirely plugged with compacted silt and root systems, requiring careful extraction to clear the pipes without causing damage to the older fixtures.

Result:

The entire upper gutter and downspout system is now completely clear, clean, and fully operational. Wayne was very pleased with the transformation, ensuring his property is now fully protected against the risk of water overflow as the wetter months approach.
