Problem:
Emily recently acquired her new property and quickly noticed signs of significant vegetation overgrowth along the roofline. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the growth was so severe it had led to a fully blocked downspout. With the water having nowhere to go, it was spilling over the sides of the gutters, posing a long-term risk of damp to the property walls and foundations.
Solution:
Our team performed a comprehensive clearing of the entire roofline. We carefully removed all organic overgrowth and debris from the gutter channels to ensure a clear path for water. Following this, we targeted the blockage in the downspout, flushing it through until the system was completely free-flowing. Finally, we conducted a thorough flush test to confirm that rainwater was once again being directed safely away from the home.
Challenges:
During our general inspection of the property’s guttering, it was evident that the system was quite aged. The primary challenge was to assess whether the existing hardware was still fit for purpose. After a detailed check, we were able to confirm that while the system has seen better days, it remains structurally sound and should adequately serve the client for at least another five years with regular maintenance.
Result:
Emily was delighted to see the unsightly overgrowth removed, immediately restoring the property’s kerb appeal. More importantly, the system is now functioning correctly, effectively managing rainfall. The client was particularly relieved to receive an honest assessment confirming that no immediate full-system replacement was required, saving her from unnecessary expense.
